Has anyone built a similar motor? I would like to compare notes on performance. 10 h.p. Briggs, 4.5" top pulley and 3.5 bottom, 9"x6 mud prop, on 14/36.

I have not built one yet but would like offer a little info. The larger sprocket should be on the bottom to increase your torque.
The pods are probably hurting you. If you must have pods to help support the weight they should be higher than the bottom and angled up so they don't drag when you get on plane. Boats don't run perfectly flat.

The picture doesn't show very good, but the pods are 1 1/2" from the bottom and are angled up in the back. It runs around 15 mph empty and if I trim it down it wants to kill the motor out. Switching will probably help, thank you.

Just guessing around 4000 to 5000. It will push 3 grown men, two boys, one dog, and gear ( with blind) aroun 10 m.p.h. Trimmed out just right with smooth water. Yes probably need a bigger boat or less people.

Nice home build on the paddle boat. All you need is some camo!

Need to get a tach and tune that gear ratio a little... I bet with that and the right prop you'll have a runner!!

Maybe more like 2500 to 3500. Yeah wrong prop for sure. I bought a long tail prop of course. What size and pitch prop does it need to be?
