 Pro-Drive problem
A couple of days ago I was runnin my Prodrive 27 and I was just cruising and my lower unit somehow spun thru part of the reverse cycle, about 90 degrees to the right and it nearly threw me out of the boat. I dont think I hit anything cause I was in deep water but it happened so fast that i could have . I wasnt in a turn or anything. But I dont know how it happened because I used reverse earlier that day and ran around for about an hour and nothing happened. I was just wondering if anybody ever had this happen to them? I'd like to know what happened and how to fix it or keep it from happening again before I go out again.

 Re: Pro-Drive problem
if the t pin didnt fully set back to the forward position the lower can spin freely whenever, so if previous to this event if you used reverse that is probally what happened

 Re: Pro-Drive problem
If the 27 is like the 36. The pin is wore out. ( the one you pull to put in reverse). Maybe not but I think that could be your problem. or you did not let it go back in its place.

 Re: Pro-Drive problem
I don't know how you would wear one out. But pull the pin assy apart and take a look. Pretty simple process. The holes in the reverse plate will open up some over time but after 3 years or heavy use mine is still fine. Make sure the return spring in the T-pin assy is still holding up.

 Re: Pro-Drive problem
Give Pro Drive a call. They did have some issues with some of the units and were replaceing them under warranty.
