Good Way to separate the power head from lower unit
When replacing the clutch this past weekend, we came up with an easy way to lift the power head off of the lower unit. We did not have an engine hoist so we used a come along attached to the rafters of the garage.
We took out the four bolts and spacers and put 1/2" all thread rod, nuts(two sets on top and one on the bottom) and washers. By tightening the bottom nuts, evenly all around, it pushes(separates) the engine head and spline adaptor from the lower unit.
It worked really well and I thought I would share.

Now make sure you never-seize the chit out of the coupler and shaft when you put it back together. Because it should just separate and slide right off when you lift up on the powerhead.
