Post Riddle me this Batman
Ok I was thinking ( it really hurts when I do that :D ) and came up with this.
If I install profomance pods on my boat it will give it better floataion right so here were it gets goofy Ok now that I have the pods on and I install a bung with a air inlet (like on bike tire) would you be able to control more or less floatation with the air pressure.
I know if I fill it with foam it will have better floatation buty air is lighter right...?????

If you fill them with foam you will hurt your flotation because they are heavier. As to increasing the air preshure in them with just regular old air I belive that will do the same as the foam, now if you build your pods out of some heavier alluminum and get an air tight solid weld on them you can add some hellium or hydrogen as those two gasses are lighter than atmosperic air and then the higher the presshure the more boyancy you will add. I cant remember the formula for figuring it out right now but it takes quite a bit of preshure to make a differance and then you have to add so much extra weight by beefin up your pods to hold the said preshure that it isnt worth it.

pods help by increasing SURFACE AREA, wouldnt make a difference if you filled them with air. Foam would make it heavier.

The foam doesnt add floatation unless youre actually floating on the foam. Filling the pod with foam would be just like throwing a block of styrofoam in your boat. It does nothing unless you sink. Pressuring up the aluminum tank with air is just gonna blow your pod up. Just go with the regular pod and call it good. ;)

thanks for all the answers and that is kinda what I thought would happen but I kept thinking and that typically gets me in trouble but I was stuck on the idea of a inner tube flat it will sink .. fill it with air and your floating along drinkin beer.
I knoe whe pod is not flat but was just thinkin
and Turbodrive thats a mighty big snapper... :D reminds of a girl I once knew
