need a small boat, for about a $1000 difference these are the two choices ive come up with.

16x40Vbow with 23 HP MB Louisiana spc

or

16x45 flat front with 35 HP MB Louisiana spc

They are both small boats, the boats are Excel.

Is there and advantage of a vbow over a flat front, I dont run timber, but a little chop sometimes.

I think the slapping has more to do with the length of the rake than the shape. I would go with the 1645/35 hp just because it's not that big of a size difference, but should be a great upgrade in performance. It sucks trying to lull through chop in a slow, small boat.
