 PD Manual Trim
Something just doesn't seem right with my trim wheel and got me in a bit of some trouble yesterday. The picture below shows the highest that I can get by cranking on the wheel. When it gets to that point the wheel will just keep on spinning.
When in highest position I still don't clear the bottom of the hull, which causes this type of damage when backing down.
Any suggestions?
Thanks Robbie and Chris for the BFW to straighten it out for the ride.

Is the bolt stripped out?

 Re: PD Manual Trim
That is what I was thinking or the collar cylinder is stripped out. I was hoping someone had a picture of theirs in the upward most position for a point of reference.

 Re: PD Manual Trim
We stripped out one of the bolts on ours, but I replaced it with an old winch trim set up. I'm guessing that's your problem. Call KP and get a new wheel.

 Re: PD Manual Trim
Thanks CB... was leaning towards that and a new skeg Any other manual trim owners have a picture of their wheel assembly with their motor in up most position? Should these two pieces be flush?

 Re: PD Manual Trim
They should touch. There is a set screw in there so you can lock the trim in place. If you hit a lot of stumps or try to move the wheel with that screw down tight, you will strip that rod out quickly. Just get a new one, and be careful how much you tighten that set screw. And I would go ahead and replace it as soon as you can. I had started stripping mine to where it was kinda doing the same thing as yours. I tightened that set screw up tight to hold it where I wanted it. Then got stuck and couldn't move the trim. Wound up stripping that entire length of rod and having to tie the motor up with rope to get back to the ramp. Oh and if it does not come with new bushings, I would ask for them and replace them too. Ours were in bad shape.

 Re: PD Manual Trim
Thanks for the feedback and I've pretty much have been doing what you described above. If I get enough time tonight I'll pull that whole assembly off and see what I'm working with.
I'm assuming just trim it all the way down so the thread all clears that round nut and then the whole wheel assembly pulls outward?

 Re: PD Manual Trim
Yup, there's not much too it. Just back the bolt out and knock out the bushings. You may be able to get a lil bigger piece of all thread from the hardware store, weld it to the wheel, and re-tap the bushings. I don't see that being worth your while, but I have no idea what it cost to replace. May be a good time to talk the wife or girlfriend in to letting you upgrade to the hydro...

 Re: PD Manual Trim
Looks like it was stripped out pretty well and also has a bit of a bend to it as well. Thanks again for the feedback.
