After exploring areas today I hadn't seen since my childhood, I realized that where once I would have stopped and turned around at the first site of mud, lillys and shallow water with my outboard, I can now go to the ends of the earth with my gatortail. Traveling alone in the cypress swamps of Louisiana is the most enjoyable and relaxing experience. Hearing the hum of the engine with the suspense of knowing at any moment a stump could f..up a great day is exciting. And sure enough....but I survived, no hole, didn't even get wet. I now have exact coordinates of that stump. Know where lots of 6:30 pm woodies are too.

i know how you feel. the ability to explore places that not many do is pretty cool. sorta like going back in time to the days on the injuns and first settlers

I have been enjoying that since I got my rig set up too. This duck season will be out of control because I have found some places that will be inaccessible to everyone with a regular outboard.

Remember the day when you thought you were the chit cause you had a longtail? Well that chit is long gone and all my holes are now phucked with weekend warriors.

I feel the same way about my rig. It's cool going where others can't. However, I am feeling the urge to take it to the next level..... AIRBOAT Just got to convince the wife it's a good idea and it's done......

im young myself and i do see a lot of other younger guys getting these surface drives and they really dont know how to act with em. i have resorted to hunting the wide open bays. went ride this weekend in the wax lake delta on the WMA and they had some teal out there in the early morning also with an arse load of grays and mottled ducks......to me it looks like its gonna be a good teal season but a great duck season..........jus sayin

You're right. It is fun to go places where outboards can't or shouldn't go. But everybody is right about lots of surface drives out there. That is why I do not hunt public land anymore. Save your money and get into a lease. I duck hunt on a podnah's lease, but I deer hunt only on my lease. Almost shot someone (on purpose) on Public land last time I hunted. Can't stand the public yahoo's that don't respect anything you tried to do!! Just sayin!
