Post new member question about surface drive for 1236 alumacraft
I'm a new member so I apologize in advance if this is not the correct forum. I have an Alumacraft 1236 (12' long, 54'' wide, 15.25'' deep at transom). I'm looking for a 9 - 15 hp surface drive for my boat... I've been looking at the 14 mudbuddy hd lite, 9 mudbuddy robin and 10 and 12 copperhead surface drives. A couple of questions:

1. Anyone run a surface drive on similar boat (width, length) and have recommendations?
2. Thoughts on Mudbuddy vs Copperhead?

I live in Lake Wylie SC and there aren't any dealers for Copperhead locally so I'm not sure if/where I could get it serviced if needed.

Thanks

Welcome to the board....

You might spend some time with the SEARCH feature to look at old
posting threads.... Most of this bunch are HP hungry though....

muddoctor - has just started selling the copperhead - here is a neat
thread about a new hull they are puttin together... You might give
him a call and ask those questions too...

I have a buddy who is looking hard at the copperhead for a 10hp limited
WMA hunting area that has some good hunting.... Everything I have
seen posted was positive about the product and the folks who put it out...

Good Luck

Thanks for the response. I'll contact muddocter and see what he says. Also, I'll use search and see what I find.

Thanks again,
