Re: MB vs PD Cage Match: NHB
i think my favorite thing about this site is that you can talk to dudes that dig mud boats and motors as much as yourself and find out about other brands performance despite the occasional retard that can't quite understand why you'd come to pretty much the ONLY F'N Mud Motor Forum in the f'n world to find out about mud motors.
to all the cats that didn't mind helpin a guy out, thanks (in case i forgot to thank you individually)
I still don't know which direction I'll end up going, but will demo the GTR and PD and try to get my hands on a mini35MB just to see. I bet that reverse is going to be the mind melt. we'll see though.

Re: MB vs PD Cage Match: NHB
This site was born out of an internet mud motor community started on another forum which tries to be more of a family friendly site. That site does not tolerate personal attacks, profanity, etc. It was also created because of the question of whether the info found there was biased, i.e., was that site in the pocket of prominent sponsors? A lot of folks now populating this site were banned from there...some justifiably and some definitely not.
This site set out to be an open forum for free expression. And there's the rub. With freedom comes the posts containing the attacks and other bad behavior.
The way I view this site is that I have to wade through a lot of BS to extract the nuggets of experience and knowledge that can be found buried within. I also have to navigate the bias of many posters, which is not based on direct experience but rather on a desire to be part of the crowd...or in many times the mob.
I, too have noticed that many of the very experienced guys I was happy to find over here (after their summary banning on the other site) no longer post or they post infrequently. Is it because they are tired of wading through the BS, or is it because, like me, you can only answer the same question in about 50 similar threads before you are spent and don't have the stamina to go through the info again.
This is the premier site on the internet covering all brands of mud motors, but to say that one has to have a thick skin and a healthy dose of patience is an understatement around here.
HuntFishGrill, I hope you found some useful info in this thread. Good luck with the purchase of your first mud motor.

Re: MB vs PD Cage Match: NHB
thanks guys. good words. when i first saw this site it was def more guys excited about motors and tad less grabassin, but hey you gotta let it all flow to get the truth out there i reckon. thick skin is easy. some dude jankin on me because i post free content from DNRs from time to time on my personal blog site was weak sauce, and i kinda got sucked into that game a little. basically if it wasn't for guys who cared enough to build these sites dedicated to things we enjoy, we'd still be staring at go devil and MBs front pages wishing there were more sites. I didnt register here to talk about my little site though, i come here to see what else is out there and how people rate those motors. (it's harder than it looks to get a real answer) it's cool, i did learn a ton about motors i knew little about and even more about customer service reputations. that'll weigh heavily as i get ready to purchase later in the summer. I can see how even the best ol boy could get bored writing about the few brands over and over and that leading to meaningless banter. the truth is, a site like this can be pretty influential to the development of new products so it's a pretty big deal when you look at it that way. either way even the hardasses were helpful a little, the numbnuts.... not so much

Re: MB vs PD Cage Match: NHB
yeah i hear ya. i thought i was a MB man for many years (pre surface drive) I felt their stuff was superior to GD. but after the joy and pain of hunting a hyper for 5 years, I truly am on a mission to find the best of the motors. It's not like i dont understand the concept of abuse and maintenance, I'm just on the hunt for the better product. Not interested in bashing any of the brands, but you can bet your tail that all that stuff did happen to the motor like i described in two seasons of typical use. maybe that's just the price you pay to play, but i'm not spending my cheese w/o a little due diligence, that's all i'm sayin
