Post Sore arm
Got a new 27 prodrive and put it on my 1652 G3 jon.

This is my first mud motor and it about wears me out with the way it pushes on the tiller. Prodrive said that properly trimmed it should not do it much. I'v tried adjusting the trim but to no avail. I know I need more front end weight to help it get up on plane faster. I'm wondering if that will help with the tiller push also. I love the motor but I'll need to take along some younger guys with big arms if this keeps up.. Any help or suggestions other than buying another brand of mud motor would be appreciated.

It's brand new and centered on the boat, I'll look for a tiller tab tonight.

Offset the motor 1 inch away from the driver.

I've NEVER had to offset a Prodrive. I'm sure it's no big deal. If it's brand new, I'm having a hard time believing it didn't come with a torque tab built into the skeg. Is the tiller pushing on you? if so, you almost certainly have it trimmed up too high. If it's pulling away from you, you have too much weight in the boat on one side or another. as far as putting alot of weight in the front if the boat, these motors don't always act like outboards when it comes to weight. Too much in the front makes it plow. All my boats have always liked the weight from the center of the boat to the back.

Crews - FYI PD themselves offset the motors now. Trust me it helps as I have driven both setups. Get up on current events ;)

Seriously if it's wearing you out that much get in the gym.

PD is offsetting their motors 1" to the port side.

where you at? I would suggest finding someone in your neck of the woods that has been playing this mud motor game for a while and have them look at your set up.

Could be a number of different issues. You will figure it out. Take some pics, lots of FE's around here :!: :D :D

I doubt is a offset problem.
sounds like a trim problem or weight distribution problem.

They ALL have torque as that is why the boat goes forward. Yes you can be fine with or without an offset. Weight distribution, trim, and overall rig dynamics can all come into play. The way I see it is get used to it - heck it's a 27. Run a 36 or 35 for awhile. They all will push on you to varying degrees.

I'm heading to the gym to get ready for the season.... 8-)

I read this post several times and cain't believe it still. From mines knowledge the Pro-Drive does not ever have enuff tiller torque fo anybody to reconize. You mite have somethin' just not rite in yore set-up that I cain't diside on.
