Post Need opinions for first Rig(Boat and Motor)......Thx
Wantingting to buy first Rig, read some of these posts but still not sure. Im thinking 17ft boat(Not sure what kind) with 36PD( Seems to be the favorite). two guys and dog most of the time. Want to be able to move at least 25mph and run local rivers/creeks tight areas. Not sure how much mud ill have but i got stumps, logs, sand flats ect. Some open water...Thanks for the info

sounds like you should call pro-drive and order a 17x48 boat with a 36

Is the 48" best all around for not sticking it?? With the mud boast is wider better if you can find it or afford it? And what about the side diffrences 18", 21" ect. being on open water I would think it would be better to go deeper but does that have negative effect in the shallows?? thx

i like the 48 wide bottom. i would go with the tall sides and tall transom. i like the tall transom to help with keeping backwash out of the boat. a 1748 will do everything you described.

Like Owen said go with the high sides and transom you will not regret it.I have a 17x54 I went with that for the stability because I fish alot.If not I would have gone with the 18x48 for good all around performance.

Look around here and get with some of the Tx guys and see if they are going on a run, show up and test ride in as many as you can.

18x48 with tall sides and transom. If your over 5'2 a tall transom is nice. I drove a short transom PD the other day and there is no way I could stand to drive.

17/ 48 is a good size. Pro Drive is one of the best boats you can get. My only advice would be get the boat you want, then if your running lots of timber and flats etc. look @ an used long tail. Try that if your not satisfied sell the LT and get the PD. My 2 cents.
