i have a mud buddy mini hd lite 18 hp and i am upgrading my 18hp to the 23 hp. im keeping the same frame, just taking the 18hp off and putting the 23hp on the frame. i have a 32 tooth top gear on the 18hp, and they say if im going to put the 23hp on that frame i should get the 36 tooth top gear and run a 11x10 propeller. what would the boat do and how would it run if i kept the 32 tooth top gear and ran the 11x10 propeller?? any advice on what i should do will help. thanks.

How heavy of a load are you planning on running, also what hull are you putting it on?


If they are still running the 50 tooth bottom the 32 would give you a 1.56 ratio, the 36 a 1.38.

If your running a large/heavy hull or heavy loads the 32 would be the better choice. Light loads, light hull the 36 for speed.


I had an 04 23 Hyper with the 32/50 on a 1748 BT hull and it ran around 24 or so depending on the load.
