i'am in the market for a rig, i'am not wanting to start arguments just want some opinions, i like the 16ft boat range but what boat? What size motor? would be yalls choice for a 16ft boat, surface drive,or long tail. this would not be my primary boat, i have others but really want a mud boat. I live between mobile and pensacla fla., where it is mainly mud and grass

 Re: which setup
What kind of load you looking to put in it. Wider handles loads better. But if you hunt timber a 1648 or 1654 may be better. ACE has a 1660 Gator Tail boat that is really nice and does well.

 Re: which setup
for as load i'am sure it would vary, no more than 3 adults, 2 most of the time, and a ice chest full of cold snackies, frog gigs or decoys

If you're not gonna be in a lot of skinny trails, then go wide. I love my 1660. Redfishin, froggin, haulin lotsa shit to da camp, etc. Really like the room I have.

 Re: which setup
It really is a matter of personel preferance.Hulls made for mudmotors are your best bet for better performance with these motors.
For me my next hull will be a gatortail extreme because of the way it handles.I want to be able to run wide open and turn when I want without the slide effect.
If you are stuck on the 16' I would do as suggested and look at a wider boat for hauling loads.
