Re: mud motor weight on wood transom
When you say wood transom are you saying that its all wood an no aluminum or just a wood core? I had to rebuild the transom in my Jon boat last spring and I beefed it up. It's got a wood core and its holding up to my 36 pd real good.

Re: mud motor weight on wood transom
If ur not using the motor what it's meant for ( going through mud ) then ur fine. If it goin through a lot of mud good luck. Mud boat are thicker then standard aluminum boats for a reason.

Re: mud motor weight on wood transom
I ran a 23 MB HD on my 14' lowe with a wood core transom I reinforced the transom I put it through its paces jumpin muskrat huts hittin logs breaking ice ect and had no problem but I only ran it one season. Just rock what you got until you can afford a better boat. I used aluminum angle iron attached to rear seat and transom and ran some square tubing for supports to tie it all together.
