 36 PD question??
this mornin as i was running out to hunt i made it about 1/4 mile runnin wide open when the motor just completely died. i didnt think much of it and pumped the bulb a few times and cranked up and took off again. well after the hunt on the way back it did the same thing again, and again, and again, then i figured out that it'd crank up and idle fine but when i openned it up it almost like flood out and die. i finally got it goin about half ass on plane and the last 400 yards before the boat ramp i opened it up one more time and it ran fine.
i thought it might be bad gas so i emptied the tank and ran all the gas out of the engine and put new gas in it after the hunt and went home and cranked it up and it ran fine.
any ideas what the deal is?

 Re: 36 PD question??
sounds like bad gas if you said it ran fine after you changed it.

 Re: 36 PD question??
Sounds like you had some water in the fuel.Change the fuel filter up close to the engine.Any parts store will have them and also Wall-Mart keeps them in the lawn & garden section.IT DOES NOT have to be the same size filter as what is on there. It can be larger or a different size.Make sure it has the correct barbs on the end where the hose pushes on.

Mine did the same thing! Call KP, he'll send you an electronic fuel pump. Installs in about 20 minutes and you're good to go!

X2. real good chance it needs an electric fuel pump. Easy to install but the wires get brittle and break in cold weather.

Sounds like junk. Best bet is to drop it on the side of the nearest Highway available.

 Re: 36 PD question??
sounds like water in fuel or a air leak in the fuel line. could be a bad check valve in the primer bal as well.
u shouldn't have to adjust the carb for any of these.
make sure u got good gas and no air leaks and a good ball before u go wasting money on a elec fuel pump.
if u do think it's the fuelpump, switch t the vacume fuelpump instead of the cam driven one. that worked for me.
cold weather makes these motors do funny things.

 Re: 36 PD question??
i changed all my fuel line, put a new bulb and new fuel filter on it 2 days ago and it improved, i also switched to runnin 93 octane gas instead of regular and that seemed to help a bit. sometimes though if i'm idlin around pickin up dekes it will occasionally start idlin real low and then die.
thanks for the feedback guys.

 Re: 36 PD question??
lately mine will run fine for about a 1/2 mile then die completely if i don't pump the ball a litle before i start it. it only does it after i trailer the boat or leave it shut down for several hrs.
i pump the ball then crankup and it runs fine all day.
mine did run like crap a month or so ago, just like u said urs was, ended up being water in the fuel.
good luck.
a little marvel mystery oil or sea foam in the tank seems to helpout when it's real cold.
ur not running any quick connects on ur fuel tanks are u? if so they are probly leaking air. if not then disreguard.

 Re: 36 PD question??
i've seen it happen many times, those quick connects will sumtimes leak air.
sumtimes with 2 gas tanks 1 will work fine and the other always makes the motor run like crap.
i'd suggest u hook to the tank directly and see if that solves ur problem. i bet a nickle that's what it is.
i run 25' of fuel line, and if i use a quick connect i have all kinds of problems. hooked directly it runs fine.
anyway, try it without the quick connects and see.
post back if it still doesn't help.

 Re: 36 PD question??
get rid of the quick connects, they r the biggest cause of air leaks with these motors
