 running lights
Im on my second rear running light of the season. I keep breaking them off while in the woods. I have seen a few boats that have lights attached to the air box on the motor. It seems like this would be a better set up. Has anyone rigged up like this and how did you do it A picture would be great

 Re: running lights
Or take you the normal metal stern lights.. Cut it with a pipe cutter and put some rubber hose to sleeve it with. Then hose clamps to hold the rubber to both sides of the posts. then hit all you wand and it will bend out of the way and pop back up.

 Re: running lights
are you talking about the anchor light? Just take it off. If your in LA, don't need it on until your anchored.

 Re: running lights
take that pole off when you get to the woods! game warden isn't going to see you off in the woods, and I seriously doubt you're at risk of collision with another boat.

 Re: running lights
I've had mine mounted on top of my air cleaner for years.
Directly underneath the cover I placed a quick disconnect plug so it's not just hanging there when servicing the engine.

 Re: running lights
Poker I know the law in TX states running lights on bow (green / red) and 360 white light on the stern while underway. Now if your at anchor you can turn off the NAV lights (Green / Red) but must leave the 360 degree stern or anchor light on.

 Re: running lights
I do stand corrected as I just got an explination from Wildlife and Fisheries.
Yes, when underway you are required to show a white light, as well as, the red/green lights. When anchored, you only have to show the white light. In the regs this white light is the same as the anchor light, just described with words two different ways. I was actually taking the quoted statment above as having a light available and not neccessarily turned on. Now I know.
I can't say how many times I've left a landing with just the red/green lights showing and have never had any problems. I've always had a q-beam available to see, just never a light always shining. I've even came into the landing with wildlife and fisheries there and never once got questions about the white light.
I'll now have a white light on when under power.

 Re: running lights
I use mine till I get to the thick stuff and then remove it. Always have my HH light on at night.
