 GTR Reverse Maintenance Question
I was just showing a friend my rig when I noticed that my reverse lever squeezes to the tiller handle.
I searched for the answer before posting this and found that I either need to adjust the pads or need to add fluid and bleed, or both.
My question is do I use DOT3 or DOT5? One post said to use one and another post said to use the other. Does it really matter as long as I purge it completely with one?
Thanks

 Re: GTR Reverse Maintenance Question
Either fluid will be fine.
If your handle was in the up position for an extended period of time you may hust have to spueeze it a few times.

 Re: GTR Reverse Maintenance Question
Most likely you just need to add a bit of fluid in there. Screw the op back on and you will feel the throw has gotten shorter and your back on track.

 Re: GTR Reverse Maintenance Question
Regular ole Brake fluid will work. It is a simply hydraulic lever that is all. The lever forces a piston to "push" the fluid through the hydraulic lines which in return, exerts force to push out the pads causing a friction bond to the rotor. Hence regular ole brake fluid will work..... Water would work too LOL just not good for corrosion, temperature change, Etc...

 Re: GTR Reverse Maintenance Question
I couldn't find any DOT 5 when I was hunting one weekend and my lever was low. Got DOT 3 and added and it worked fine. Called Hoyt at GT the following Monday and he said he thought that they were actually putting DOT3 in the motors at the shop, and said either should work. You just don't want to mix them. I believe DOT 5 is blue in color. DOT 3 is clear. Look inside of reservoir and see.

 Re: GTR Reverse Maintenance Question
After a little more research, I have found that the two (DOT3 & DOT5) are compatible. This is required to meet the SAE standards to get the DOT designation. DOT3 helps prevent corrosion a little better than the DOT5.
Anyways, I had to add fluid and purged it completely with DOT3 to be on the safe side.
Thanks for all of the replies.

 Re: GTR Reverse Maintenance Question
Mine did the same thing so i called Kyle up and he had one sitting at my front door the next day....Man those guys at GT are great! The little plunger on the inside of mine started leaking just sitting in the garage, given my motor only had 32hrs on it, they replaced it no questions asked!
