Or weaving through heavy timber in the dark and that prop is bouncing off all the trees. Not to mention loading up in the dark at the ramp with folks and dogs running around .

Re: New to the forum!...Need help on what mud motor to buy....
For the guy that started this thread:
It would probably behoove you to get a used 35-36 HP motor if in good condition, rather than buying a new underpowered motor to fit your price range. If you have a hard blind plus the load you are stating, you've got the work cut out for your motor.
Good luck and enjoy.

Re: New to the forum!...Need help on what mud motor to buy....
DDM - Bought that 27 GDSD used and at a good price in Jan - told you I had put 70 plus hours on it since then and 50 on my new 35 GDSD since I bought it a couple a months ago - when you asked me how many hours I had with a surface drive....
BUT - you never answered my question about your new GT - Surely Hoyt told you that your new modded GT with 250 lbs compression required octane booster in every gallon of gas to prevent knock and early detonation ???

This guy is on a budget... He ain't lookin to build a freakin modded franken-motor that won't even run properly on pump gas !!!
He wants a motor that doesn't take a pit crew to service after every run !!!

Re: New to the forum!...Need help on what mud motor to buy....
I have a question which may seem to be dumb but I always told my students that there was no such thing as a dumb question but the internet thing has seem to change that. Do these manufactures of mud motors give back a gift like say a few dollars to each mud motor you sell for them once you buy one? The reason I ask is because some really push the brand they own pretty hard.

Oh and no I do not get anything from gator tail.I did not even get one of those blue shirts or a hat

Sorry i asked that question. The wife told me that it was not a good idea but I wanted to know. The old car salesman used to do that in the past and it looked like it had spilled over to mud motors. I will make sure I don't ask about your cheerleading again. Sorry

Craig, maybe you should look at who you call a tard. I am pretty sure that my education is alot higher than yours but I understand that is what you are all about on here. With that said I will look for another site with mud motors. I thought this was a great site but I know better now

Re: New to the forum!...Need help on what mud motor to buy....
Some folks are just passionate about their chit. You got have some thick skin to post here at times. But I would think with all that education you would have figured that out by now. No sense getting your panties in a wod over any of this. After all, its just a lawnmower with a prop. And FYI, education and common sense is not the same thing.

Man, ya'll got it all wrong. Scavengers are the way to go, they're so simple they almost don't work, plus you get the heat from the muffler blowing you in the face in the winter time. They gots a nice huge handle so everybody in the boat can drive at the same time, all family-like, plus the shaft only rattles around in the housing when yer accelerating, that way everybody knows to hold on cause yer fixing to move in a forward like fashion. And cheap? MAN! I got my '05 for 200 bucks! And it hasn't even ripped my arm off yet! Plus, what's cooler than a nice big muffler burn on your forearm to show to all the chicks from reaching around the backwards facing motor to pull the choke?

Re: New to the forum!...Need help on what mud motor to buy....
One issue you need to consider is the degree of angle on transom. My boat is a zero degree transom. Did`nt work well with GT(prop shaft to belt housing is 90 degree ), I could hardly get the prop to touch mud, much less dig. My PD is wider angle, works fine on my rig. Just my 2 cents +/o cent.
