A buddy of mine is going to be in the Lake Charles area for work sometime over the next couple weeks. He's looking for any local landmarks he should see, or any suggestions of what to do in his off-time in the area, or places to eat that people would recommend? He's thinking of maybe seeing if there's an airboat tour in the area also, if anyone knows of anything like that. I figured this would be the place to ask, seeings how there are a few guys from that area on here.

Thanks in advance.

I live in Lake Charles.....

Places to eat... Seafood or Anything

Steam Boat Bills (Seafood) right off I-10 at the foot of the Bridge...
Pats of Henderson is good all around...
if looking for a little fine dining and maybe some wine with a steak The Harlequin off of I-210 in b/w Ryan St. and Lake Street is good for that.

Also be aware that I-210 is under construction so if he is looking to drive somewhere take an extra 15-30minutes because traffic is crappy around here when either of the interstates are under construction.

It is a short ride to the American Airboat Facility in Orange, TX... bout 30 minutes... they offer airboat tours now of the Blue Elbow Swamp....

Ask for Sallie, I believe she is handling the tour side of things now... been a few weeks since I was over there last though.

Let me know if I can help out...

What is the job if you don't mind me asking?

I appreciate it, and I'm sure he will when I forward this to him. Telecommunications business I believe. Not really sure of the specifics.

If he is in to fishing tell him to look up the Hackberry Rod and Gun Club and he can get a fishing trip in on Big Lake (Calcasieu). It's just minutes from Lake Charles. Plus there is all the casino's!!! If he is into golf the LeBerge(sp) casino has a course and there is the Grey's, Mallard Cove and Frashe(sp) Park in Sulfur.
