OK FE's, my trailer tires are cupping real bad and still have plenty of tread left. What causes the tires to "cup" like mud grips? I am afraid that I'm going to suffer a blow out soon. |

Are they Carlisles? Mine did the same thing with less than 20k on them. |

Yeah, Carlisle's suck. Get a good trailer tire and you should be fine. I got some Interco's from Winmill in New Iberia for a good price that have held up very well. |

Might be related to air pressure. Are you watching that? When you replace put a set of Goodyear Marathons on on be done with it. |

bet there bias ply, get radials and they wont. the ones on my bay boat did the same thing. the guy at the tire shop said common to bias plys. i thought somethin was wrong with the axle. got the radials and been smooooooth since. they do make a difference when pullin, i wouldnt have ever thought so. |

I've heard alot problems out of the Carlisle's and I had the exact same problem you are talking about on both of my tires. I actually ended up having a blowout on the way home from the lake. My next set will be something else. |

THe carlisle Bias ply tires suck. Wne you get the chance get some good radial tires for a trailer and keep the PSI in check. I keep my tires at 35 PSI and they hold the wieght fine, run cool, But they are scalloped like a mofugga. Best solution is to buy new ones. |

I've always heard the GY marathons are the best. Hopefully they know how to make a trailer tire, cause they haven't figured out how too keep car and truck tires round. We sell alot of tires at work, and I see more problems with GY then all of the others. After doing some research lately my next set of trailer tires will be the Maxxis M8008 ST Radial. These seem to have even a better reputation than the Goodyears, and are cheaper too. Too bad we don't carry them so I could get a discount. Just my $.025. |

I had the same issue with my Crapisles (bias ply) - the only reason you get these on a new trailer is that they are cheap, cheap, cheap. When I called the trailer mfr about the problem, they claimed it was out of warranty as the trailer was more than 6 mos. old. ????? So, I switched to GY Marathons (I have heard better reports on the Carlisle radials than the bias ply, but wasn't going to take a chance) and they are wearing very well with no issues. I also run Marathons on my 36' TT and they are holding up very well. |

I second the vote for Goodyear Marathons, I've got them on both my boat trailers. I wouldn't run anything but. I've heard a lot of bad news on Carlisles over the past few years. My EZ loader came with Marathons and when I bought my mud boat out here in CA, I put new marathons on that trailer too. The tires it came with were almost trash when I got it and they were only about 3 years old. |
