 Muffler Question
Does the new stainless mufflers that the marine motors come with hold up any better than the junk that comes on the other Briggs motors. I know the stainless wont rust but what I mean is the baffle on the inside breaking loose and sounding like rocks rolling around inside the muffler. Just curious. Mine is broke to hell and back and wonderin if I should just upgrade to stainless.

 Re: Muffler Question
I can't say if the new stock stainless holds up any better internally, but since you are already at the crossroads of having to buy a new/better muffler........if you think you might do other types of motor modifications later, you might want to consider getting a quality stainless muffler like the marshmellow or evt. That way you won't get hit with the cost of another muffler upgrade again. If you don't ever do mods, then you will still have a quality muffler that should last a lifetime.
That is what I did anyway.

 Re: Muffler Question
I know my new stainless stock exhaust looks like hell already. I run mostly salt water. I can't tell you how the internals will hold up but the outside looks pretty rusty. I'm no metallurgist, but I guess the heat and salt water combined with the grade of stainless will cause surface rust on them. I've tried soaking it with WD-40 and Liquid Wrench and all it does is leaves a smoke screen behind me. LOL.
PS. I only have 9 hours and 6 minutes on the motor so far.
