beached my rig pretty bad or should I say the newbie kid I let drive my boat did, he didnt understand someone screaming at him "hammer down" means full throttle ahead just yet.

Had to winch from one spot, then move the cable to another anchor spot about four times before we got her unstuck. It was real fun walking in cotton mouth country to get unstuck

Anyway I have a 2000K winch and it did the job but not with total ease, if I had a longer cable I would have used the snatch block or I might need to jump up to a 3K winch. As cheap as they are these days I just might do it.

DK, i would strongly suggest looking at a gorilla winch, they are completely submersible, water proof motors. Never had a minutes trouble out of mine. I paid 250 for a 4500 lb i believe for my rhino. Willet has had good luck with them as well! Ive thout about gettin another one for my skiff..

You know that it seems that the winch is normally the easy part to the problem,Finding something to winch to is the biggest part for us marsh hunters!!I don't get stuck much but have working on different anchors and trying different ones for the last 7 years and I have made one that will for sure out do any that I have bought!!The PullPall was great for most sticks,But not for all!!!I will get some pictuces posted soon as I feel better(Hopefully today)Hope this will help!!

I've been pondering the idea of adding a winch to my rig and this might have given me the final push. Thanks for the post.

It got me thinking though.. how are you mounting to your rigs? Running a GD that still has the flotation up front so not sure how to re-enforce to make sure the winch doesn't end up in the drink.

Anybody got some pics or ideas?

I'll post up a photo of how mine mounts later today... (wiring etc) Here's the receiver hitch style that I had Gator-Tail build me into the bow of the boat. Its removable I can stow the winch or leave it on...

In the second picture you can see the winch sitting on the removable mount. The wires from the winch run to the end of the front deck on the port side. (Where you typically find a trolling motor plug etc) I have two connections mounted there one for the power / winch plug the other is for the remote for the winch to pull the cable in or out.

Harbor freight got 3K winches for $50.00 (wif coupon from Four wheeler mag) already mounted on a plate, even comes with wireless remote (key chain). Havent used it yet but they take just about anything back...
