I have been all over this site and have just now heard of Bog Hog and Pratt & Whitney. The only motors I was aware of were Pro Drive, Mud Buddy, Gator Tail and Go Devil. Sorry if I was beating a dead horse. |

This is a pretty sporty crowd here, so watch yourself. I know, I'm a noob here too. If you search the site you will find that everyone has their favorites among the list you posted. Just like anything else mechanical, they all break from time to time. I was trying to make the same decision a couple of months ago and came to the following conclusions: They are all lawnmower engines, so from an engine reliability perspective they are an homogenous product, if you stay with stock engines. However from the motor mount down, and out to the tip of the tiller handle, they are all quite different. They are all very reputable manufacturers. They all seem to, or are reported to, stand behind their products. They all have A BBB ratings. If you have access, try them all and select the one that suits your needs best. If you don't have access, then you will have to do what I did: read every post on the topic, watch every video, and guess what motor will work best for you. Best of luck! |

I can only speak for two manufactures/Reps. I understand that some of the MudMotor manufacturers dont return calls and dont apprieciate the business that is given to them. Well, with that said, You can always count on Chops at SETX Performance to help you with all your MudBuddy Needs. And.. You can always expect to talk with either JP or Peck at Prodrive. They will either pick up the call, or call you right back. They defently treat their customers like family. In My opinion, that means alot !!!!! Uncle J |

OK, don't beat me down on this question...... but are there dealerships that let you test drive the boats or do you just have to know someone with each brand that will let you test them out. If the later is the deal then I only know one guy with a Pro Drive. I'm not part of the MM group as I only have experience with regular outboards and I'm new to this site. I have read enough of these post to know that the MM guys are a tough crowd. I can't believe some of the stuff you guys say to each other. The only thing that I can figure is that ya'll are one big family because only family can talk to each other that way. Thanks. |

yeah Shadow. I mostly bowfish the rivers. A jet would work nicely but it will not take me where I want to go when the river gets out of the banks. Thanks to the guys that offered rides. I may contact ya'll before too long. |

The big 3. MB, Mud Buddy, and mUd bUdDy. lol No j/k. I looked at gator tail, pro drive, and Mud Buddy and as far as performance mods and time they spent testing their products i had to go with mud buddy. All the lookin I did and their Black Death Motors Come Out of the box rigged up with performance and ready to haul with a better price tag then adding on later!!! Im gettin 30 mph in open (slightly rough water) with a 1954 excel which is one of the heaviest boats made for its size. Its is absolutely amazing in my eyes. bus as they al say its just my opinion. here are some pics of how i got my bow fishin rig set up. |

whoever posted about a jet, ill take a mm over a jet any day. hp to hp there is on contest. and ive yet to find a place the jets go that i cant. in the river is out and trash is flowing i can keep going. if the river is down and i hitt a rock it wont cost me a pump intake or housing, it will kick the prop out of the water and ill keep going. jets have there place on big boats if you got to have big hp, but a mm is the way to go on the smaller boats. |

it was shadow. as far as long runs go, ask the jet guys as i blow them off the shoals when i pass them. or sit in a hole while you hear a jet coming for 10 min till he findly passes by then for 10 more till hes gone. even the big boats are slow. i watched a 150 merc and 225 johnson leave the river one day. i tthouught they would never get by me. ide bet the bro-in-laws 35 mb would give them a run. |
