I am running a 2008 HD sport with a Mikuni Carb Kit, twin exhaust, and I beleive the heads are ported, it is running strong average is 4800rpm's. This motor is going to my father who had to give up his airboat due to the loss of his right leg, a result of chemicals use in "the Nam", and I am getting a new motor in the spring. I am running a Lowe Roughneck 1960 all welded jon boat, I am leaning towards the HD 6 or 7000 and am wondering if anyone else is running one and what they think about the performance, reliability, ease of operation, and fuel economy, and of course speed! |

im running a 7 on a GT 1750 with a huntdeck and the performance is awesome, has the power to get just about any load on step on roll out. i havent had any issues with mine but i only have about 21 hours on the motor so far but from the other people i have talked with about the motor before i purchased mine say that if something happens it usually happens in the first hour. u probably wont tell any difference in operating the motor than the one u have now. fuel economy sucks went riding yesterday with 2 friends one with a MB stock 35 with single exhaust, the other was a stock 35 gtr and i went through my whole tank of gas and had to stop on the lake and get 2 gallons to get back and we took the long way back. when we hit the landing i was pretty much empty again and they had little less than a 1/4 tank. speeds on mine are pretty descent the most i have seen out of my rig is 34 mph, i run a constant 31.5 to 32.5 and after this weekend i ran with 2 people in the with me and i could hold 31 all day. overall im really pleased with the motor iwanted something that would handle any load i throw at it and this motor more than gets the job done! if ya wanna know anymore hit me up |

Have 168 hrs on my 7000. Other than fine tunning with jets, tac weld on handle breaking, belt housing crack caused from vibration of a prop breaking in half and BPS crossover exhaust breaking at 17 hrs warranty replace of BPS duals at 40 hrs with them cracking at 125hrs later I have had no internal problems and have been very satisfied with motor. It has ran and performed well. 33-34mph with crossover exhaust and 32-33mph with duals on a 3man gator hide boat. It was bought new in Oct 09. |

It has 169 hrs. No muffler cracked before prop broke. Original crack was found at 17 hrs. 40hrs when prop broke. At 165 hrs is when I found a crack on one of the dual exhaust. The tac weld on the handle broke at 7hrs. I definitely would buy another one. Reliable and dependable. WOT most of the time in the 165 hrs. Had a 27 Kohler Mud buddy before this and warrantied two mufflers on that one. Mufflers crack. |

We spoke on the phone last night. The 6000 or 7000 would be great motors.... I would recommend a crossover exhaust or a marsh mello performance exhaust. The duals are very loud and if you are going as far as you say, 50 miles, it would get grating on the ears. |

Thanx to everyone who posted there reveiws and please keep em comin! I bought my first boat and motor this year it was a Hewescraft Riverrunner, and why they call it a riverrunner I don't know cause it was a nightmare in anything less than 2 feet! But I sold it after 3 weeks and bought a Lowe Roughneck 1960 with a 2008 MB Hyperdrive Sport and I love it, I need another motor for my dad so this ones goin to him & I am getting a new one and I think Mud Buddy is the way to go but I am open to any and all suggestion's. |

I am pretty new to this so I don't have to much to compare it to but the Dual exhaust pipes are very loud and I believe it says on the MB site that you get more power with a single exhaust, and the Duals get "Cool Big Block Sound" |

they say slightly more power with the single but its loooouuudddd!!!! very loud turning 5,000 rpm's. the duals arent quite as loud and to me doesnt sound as good as the single. that motor either exhaust is gonna be nerve racking. |

If ya wantin quiet and performance, go with the marsh mellow. Both the BPS duals and crossover are loud. They both come with "silencers" that knock down the noise level, but also the performance. The new MM comes without a baffle in it, which produces about the same noise level as a crossover with a baffle. |

Yeah, I knew that, but you also said it was simple... When half of your post are about problems with your motor, its not very truthful to say you never had a SINGLE issue... You had issues with compression too if I recall which required some head work? Jus sayin |

I know what your saying. I think all the compression and all the problems were linked to the Timing maybe no but I agree it was not a simple fix. The valves probally got screwed up do to the timing being off, If I never put the mods on opened up the crankcase to remove the govenor I probally would never have had a issue with anything. I still think its a great running motor and have already put 15+ hours on since i got the timing figured out and everything is good so far. I know alot of guys say Mods are the devil I guess I will find out I run my boat everyday this time of year so if it make it through these next few months maybe I could give a better opinon as far as a modded motor goes. |
