I'm a new member so I apologize in advance if this is not the correct forum. I have an Alumacraft 1236 (12' long, 54'' wide, 15.25'' deep at transom). I'm looking for a 9 - 15 hp surface drive for my boat... I've been looking at the 14 mudbuddy hd lite, 9 mudbuddy robin and 10 and 12 copperhead surface drives. A couple of questions: 1. Anyone run a surface drive on similar boat (width, length) and have recommendations? 2. Thoughts on Mudbuddy vs Copperhead? I live in Lake Wylie SC and there aren't any dealers for Copperhead locally so I'm not sure if/where I could get it serviced if needed. Thanks |

Welcome to the board.... You might spend some time with the SEARCH feature to look at old posting threads.... Most of this bunch are HP hungry though.... muddoctor - has just started selling the copperhead - here is a neat thread about a new hull they are puttin together... You might give him a call and ask those questions too... viewtopic.php?f=5&t=12502 I have a buddy who is looking hard at the copperhead for a 10hp limited WMA hunting area that has some good hunting.... Everything I have seen posted was positive about the product and the folks who put it out... Good Luck |

Thanks for the response. I'll contact muddocter and see what he says. Also, I'll use search and see what I find. Thanks again, SC GatorHunter |
