Whats your opinion on a Stock 35 GT vs Stock 35 MudBuddy? Assuming the GT does not have reverse, what is the difference in frame design.

Is there any true difference is torque? How does the two hold up in the salt verse the other?

i cant speak for the GT but my first SD motor was a stock 35mb. i didnt have one issue in the time that i owned it. i sold it to a buddy that hunts with me , he hasnt had one issue with it either. MB is a very depenable motor as well as the gator tail, i dont think u will have any issue with either motor. both are the same motor so i dont think u would see any speed difference between the two on the same boat. if your gonna think about gettting the GT why are u not considering the reverse option?

I run PD now and since 2007 I have only used the reverse twice. I am just trying to understand the frame and dimension differences.

Gt has the stock 35 listed around 400.00 more than the MB, without the reverse.

Im leaning towards these two because of the frames and having the engine higher and more enclosed, saltwater can do a number on these engines.

You may not need reverse... But there will always be that time where you wish you had it.

Damn I wish i had it

Just trying to understand the differences. Whats the difference in frame design with the GT and GD? from what I can see its the length of the lower unit.

Because 1 gd is a Louisiana company
2 u mentioned saltwater and u can get the frame galvanized from gd
3 their cs is way better than mb
4 I read a lot of shit on the www and mb has had many many probs from props to trims to cs

Lol don't misunderstand me if u have the cash go pd r gator tail. But if not go gd. Better than the mb. Plus didn't u all know maintenance is way easier on the gd?
I haven't seen any complaints about pd or gd customer service... Just sayin...You said everyone.

And just to add a lil to that, just because a company offers more parts or motors doesn't mean they shouldn't keep up with the cs. If your customer base is expanding, you better find a way to keep up...
so that makes pd or gd a better motor because the guys at the shop answer the phone?

yes i agree cs should meet how much your building but just because they have slow service sometimes DOESNT make MB a bad motor. i talked to micah several times this week over an order and once today on a rev limiter got a call back everytime. so far ive had great experiences with mudbuddy even my dealer has called me back several times to make sure we got it figured out. i dont care what motor this guy gets its just funny to see some people tell em it aint a good motor because they dont like the owner or on what they have read. i can pull up threads on every motor built with problems so to say one is better than the other is just stupid, its all about what features u want or need. the fact that somebody even suggests a mb all the haters come out and they prolly have never even dealt with any products they make.

u are right. they all have had issues. but...lets b honest here. mb has had far more probs, and in massive numbers, than any other brand of surface drive there is. its not the owner thats the problem, its the product.

hell he still got yall thinking theres a reverse in the works.

Ok, fast forward to present day. Yes there were problems in the past, but they have been resolved. All of these motors have had issues and been fixed. To quote the legend in his own mind, "It's a just phuckin lawn mower engine. "

I think dollar for dollar MB's are a good value especially their new Black Death engines. I priced out several brands and to add the mods my engine has on another engine would have put me over 8k. Maybe next time I'm in the market I'll take a closer look at Gator Tails since they seem to be the preferred brand here but I got my BD 5500 for just a few hundred more than a new GTR and it's pushing my boat close to 30 mph with a light hunting load.

With two guys and a hunting load I'm doing about 29 mph with a GT 1750HD fastest I've gone is 32 mph by myself. So I think it's about right, I'm thinking about adding another inch of pitch to the prop since I keep bumping the rev limiter and this might help with the top end a little.

Duck Diggler, regardless of what you get, you'll be happy since all these motors will get you to places and outboard never will. The rest is preference.
