Y'all ever seen this? I'm not sure where I got this from, so I hope this wasn't posted before. A search of MMT was negative. Anybody know the scoop on this boat?

Here's the link so get your motion lotion ready.

My podnah built one not too long ago. He put a Subaru e-82 which is pretty common for them. Talk about shit n get. Hopefully the prop last longer than a regular MM prop cause he got a deal on one foe a lil over $800. :o

A buddy of mine has a similar designed boat with a 4 cyl Subaru built by a guy named Benji at mud unit -out of New Iberia. Nothing can touch it when its running right, which is hardly ever.

Yeah i saw that one a long time ago. The guy said it would hit 70 in a straight away that has to be close to 40,000-60,000$ sitting right there. What yal think? If you ever got stuck you would need a helicoppter to get you out

Thats what I told my podnah. I said you may go through everything everyone else can't but who's gonna come get your azz when it breaks down hopefully, an airboat can get to ya.

Post subject:  Re: Mud boat with V8?

I think he got a least 20 into it. He already had the hull and trailer. He put it in a charles leonard skiff. I'm not sure on the dimensions but I believe its a 17 ft. He added a few extras like a accumulator to adjust the pressure holding the outdrive in the water.

Pretty neat rig, but I bet its heavy as sin though....

Post subject:  Re: Mud boat with V8?

I must be wrong, but I could have swore that particular boat was built a few years ago at Ronnies Airboats in Centerville LA. I know they used to build the outdrives and put a few boats together, but I really thought they built that one too.

Post subject:  Re: Mud boat with V8?

I hunt with the guy that Marcus is talkin about.

its a 18 ft i think. Idk how wide with a zz4 350.

I've been in it with about 6 other hefty boys like myself and its a hoss.

It can run some stuff that a prodrive or gator tail cant move in.

Really good in lillies with all the power.

You can try Shaun at Faucheaux's Airboats in Baldwin or Boats by Kirk in Des Allemands.

Alot of People have Copied them, But the original Designer and Builder was Clyde Johnson and his son Clyde Jr from Baldwin La. Here are some pics of my Buddys Boat with a EA82 Subaru.

Ronnies air boats had built that one. It's dubbed fowl habit. A super go devil r mud unit is junk to this here rig. Heard he had 40k n it, not sure how true that is but I seen it for sale a year r two ago fro 17k I believe.

Where r y'all boys from? Y'all act like y'all never seen subarus and v8s n mudboats before
I would never own. Super go devil r a mud unit but Ron ie's design was worth something. He quit making em

Post subject:  Re: Mud boat with V8?

Ronnie built the same type. He used the subaru engines. The one that I saw that he built was a hack job and didnt run worth a crap.

Post subject:  Re: Mud boat with V8?

Shit not the ones I seen. Had hydraulics for trim instead of that damn Lil winch. I seen hack jobs too but theywere the mud units. I'm partial to none but seemed his were a lot nicer and didn't look like they were built in a back yard

Post subject:  Re: Mud boat with V8?

This is my padnah's. Awesome when it's running right, but you can't trust the boat. It's got to push close to 50 with the boat loaded down.

Post subject:  Re: Mud boat with V8?

A boat like that has to be close to 40k easily. What gets me thought is that it has a closed cooling system and I'd like to know how they keep the mud out of the heat exchanger. Even if they put a strainer on it I don't think it will go 10ft in mud without getting clogged. Regardless, that is one bad ass boat but for that amount of money I would get an airboat.

Post subject:  Re: Mud boat with V8?

The Cooling System is a Closed System and Can not get Mud in them. I thought the Hydraulic Trim system looks better too but it all Boils down to what Works. The Hydraulic system is so Rigid every time you hit a log are a stump it puts stress on the transom because it does not give and Eventually the Transome cracks to Pieces. The double shock system gives when you hit a stump are a log and holds up alot better. This is my observation from all the ones I have ridden in and been around.

The Fowl Habbit Boat was at one of the Muddi Gras and Broke before the the first stop of the Poker Run. I was told the guy has $50 K in it and it had a 383 Stroker in it.

Post subject:  Re: Mud boat with V8?

Thats why my podnah put a pressure accumulator on his. He can set how hard the outdrive hydraulics push down in relation to he conditions he is running.

people been using keel cool systems for years down here. and they work. even at idle in mud, i never had a prob cooling my subaru

Post subject:  Re: Mud boat with V8?

Prob with an airboat is that it is a bitch to run a large air boat in the woods. My cage was beat to hell.
Uncle J knows about air boats in the woods also.
These boats would run better in the woods
also many people only use their big mud boats a few times a year to dig the ditches in the marsh to get to the holes.
