I have a Lowe 1455 Roughneck w/ a 27hp Mud Buddy Sport. By myself in the boat I can hit 23mph, but with another passenger I can't get on plane. I am looking into getting performance pods, but am not sure that will fix the problem. I am hoping to be able to get on plane with three guys and gear in the boat. Will the performance pods help that much or should I sell the boat (take a hit) and buy a mud hull boat (I was looking at the Gator Trax) Any help is appreciated. Thanks |

it aint what you wana hear from me or anybody else but . . . you would see better performance with the gatortrax! i think a 1638 rouge with a hundeck would be a nice setup for the 27! |

i think it would be a runner on about a 17x42 ![]() that boat you have is really too chodey if you ask me, length will help you distribute your load and get the weight further out front and get on plane. Uncle J makes some pretty nice boats and could do you one for a good price, if I ever get the funds he will be buildin mine. |

I think you need a bigger boat or a bigger engine. For some reason I've noticed that the smaller 14-15' boats are slower that the 17' + boats with the same engine. I have a Gator Trax 1750 HD that's goes 32mph with me by myself and 29.5 with another person and a hunting load in shallow water. My friend has a 1548 Grizzly with a 35 Mud Buddy Surface Drive and he can't get it over 25 mph with just him in the boat and 23 mph with 2 and a hunting load. I think it has something to do with the way the smaller boats sit in the water. On mine when I'm out on plane, only the back 1/3 of the boat is in the water and maybe 4" deep. When I go on my buddies boat it seems like if the rear end is buried in the water. |
