 home made surface drive?
Ok, so I'm new to this forum and to mud motors in general. But i bought one of those lt plans off ebay. Looks ok but got me thinkin about a home made surface drive instead. Can't be that hard, right? But since i'm new to this mud motor world thought i'd ask and see if anyone here has attempted it. Big question is about the trim. Do a manual style? Or would a cavitation plate work for that? The boat is a 12' v-nose aluminum with a 16" transom. I know this probably isn't the best boat for a sd motor but run what you got right. Thought about doin those pods from beavertail to help out with the extra weight. havn't measured how wide my boat is. anyhow any help is more than welcome thanks.

fIRST Off forget the pods, kills performance! just come to a gradual stop and you'll be fine.

PM me your email address and I will send you the sketches that I put together when I built my 13 hp belt drive a few years ago.
