Alright fellas,im getting ready to pull the trigger on a new boat in the near future, and I would appreciate input on builders,size,layout,etc.. I currently have A 16/44 GD,but finally convinced myself that I need more boat for the kiddos, and loads I carry. I was thinking along the lines of maybe A Uncle J 18/56 possibly, but its not quite set in stone yet. Thanks in advance.... |

I've been using a 1544 for the last 2 seasons and have an Uncle J 1854 on order. It should be ready in the week or so. I can give you some good feedback for your decision then. At any rate, J is easy to work with and crafts a fine boat! |

If I were getting a boat built, it would be between Brother or Ricky Aucoin....but I'm not sure Ricky's still building boats....out of touch right now. If he ain't, that's a shame as that dude put his heart into his builds. Nothin against Uncle J.....never seen one of his rigs and don't know anyone w/ one....I have seen several of the other builders and currently own one of Brothers.....they are top effing notch ![]() |

It's hard to put the figure on exactly what you want, need, and can afford .... at least it is fo me !!! ![]() I truely thank the next one I git built .... I'm gonna give the UncleJ a hard look. I have talked with him several times on the cell-phone and his style of person will kind of grow on you and I really thank he has the passion to build great hulls and to git his customer sho-nuff satisfied. I can ware-out and tare-up anybody's hull and do it quick .... so to me .... it's more 'bout cost than anythang ........ 'Course this is just mines opinion and does not reflect anybody or anythang affilated with MMT !!! |

Draw up what you want then throw it out to bid to builders that may be of interest. You may be surprised by the prices offered. |

I like the boat Jason built for me. It carrys a load very well and so far has gone every where I'v pointed it.. The only trouble I'v had with it has been tring to get put in somewhere, or getting out of a parking lot... Everytime I come out of a store or I'm tring too put in or take out at the boat ramp, someone wants to stop and ask about the boat... After leaving the bottom yesterday I stopped by the local beer store to get a bottle or twelve of water, I head back to the truck and a guy is taking pictures of my boat. That leads into a 10 min conversation, about who, what, when and where.... Thats all fine, but this whole time my water is getting warm and I have things to see and people to do, and this guy is holding me up........ |

I was looking into it and had my heart set on Ricky Aucoin, but he ain't doing it anymore. On the other hand, Uncle J has come a long way, and he is on top of sht much quicker it seems than most others, his boats are looking great and he's quick, very well priced too. He priced me out an 1854 that was 1500 bucks less than a comparable GT boat. |
