Can anyone tell me why my paint lays on looking dusty and shows the beginning and end of each pass. I am using a Harbor Freight gravity feed. I am applying Duralux flat boat green and thinning with Xylene. I am needing to thin the paint more that stated in the instructions cause paint is still to thick for the gun. Does thinning to much cause this, not thinning enough? Is it just a shitty paint? I tried adjusting the air, but it seems to get worse. |

you need to adjust the air to paint mix. Sounds like the paint is drying before it hits the boat. |

Try using a air sprayer. That should take care of your problem. |

Paint is brand new, I spray it from about 8 inches away, but the idea about it drying before it gets to the surface is what it is doing. I think I am just gonna try a different kind of paint. Could it be drying fast from being thinned out to much? |

I know. I was having the same problem. It took me just a little while before I figured out what to do. I let my brother-in-law paint it. |

Sounds to me like a number of things are working against each other. I'm not familiar with the harbor fright gun that ur using but seems like ur cap pressure is way off. So what pressure r u spraying at? Also seems like the paint volume adjustment. Is. To little. Anotherwards not enough paint comming out of the gun compared to the pressure that is comming out at the cap. So do u have a knob that adjust the volume. Also what is the ratio that u r mixing with the paint? Answer my questions and ill tell u ur problem |
