Post Need help
Looking at getting a 1648 GDSD and running a 36 PD. I've been told it would work but I've also been told its a terrible idea. Not real sure what to do. Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated

How about posting in the correct forum......as long as the transom is the correct height, it will work.

Believe the PD likes a hard rear lip instead of a roled transom...

Not sure about the transom angle either...

Those might be the biggest concerns....

Won't handle a 36 PD or anything bigger than a 27? Sounds like BS to me.

Same here - GDSD 35 on a GD 16x48 - love it - jump the heck
out of logs and cypress knees and misc short land jumps...

Heck even ole' Craig is running a 35 GTR on a GD 16x48....

Granted the PD might be the heaviest of the mfgs but I doubt
there would be any strength issues --- maybe not the most
desirable transom design for the PD though as stated above....

Ok, I got it maybe 35 pd weighs About 315 lbs I'm told! power vs weight?? you get the same power from a gd 35 and its 280 and the gtr tail is 245, My boss just bought a 16x48 frow a guy with a 35 pd. too much power and wieght so he bought a bigger boat. Its fast but it doesn't perform well. harder to get on plane. I have a 1660 gdsd with the gdsd35 Looking back I pry would have bought a gtr tl. Less weight = more speed but at 4 am who does 30 mph in the fog? A deal is a deal if its a good price buy it cuz tour going to go bigger later any-way!
