 Looking for advice...
Hey guys, newbie here! I have a 1546 short transom mod-v Xpress that I am wanting to put a surface drive on. What would you guys recommend? Anybody running a similar hull what has your experience been. Thanks a bunch!

I've heard that After eight years of research, development and testing, it was with great pleasure that Pro-Drive brought to you the first ever “Shallow Water Outboard” ... www.prodriveoutboards.com

 Re: Looking for advice...
I run a 24 Mudbudy mini on a 1542 flatbottom. I think a 23 or 27 surfacedrive would work well.

 Re: Looking for advice...
I searched and searched and evinrude had a shallow water outboard wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy back. As I see it all these surfacedrive mudmotors are just an improvement from other existing ideas from the past even all the way fro thai longtail surfacedrives, which I have even seen a beltdriven one. I will make a rocket engine mud motor no need for propeller and I can cook my ducks all at once, Hummm But full power reverse might be hazardous. oops sorry for n*ggering up this thread

 Re: Looking for advice...
I know its not an ideal hull for a SD but its all I've got. I would think the 23 GTR would be a pretty good fit based on some of the things I have read so far. Will I have to raise the transom?

Gatortail comes in short or tall transom, depends on how your stern floats it. Best bet is to wait and see if someone with similar hull has put one on theirs.

 Re: Looking for advice...
I had a 25 Prodrive on the same boat you have. If thats all you got itll do ok. Flat, slick bottom is 100% better. Prodrive makes a short tansom motor. Itll do good with 1 or 2 people in the boat and a light hunting load. Anything more than that it sucks ass.
