Post GTR Extreme hull problems
Anyone having any problems with dents in the front rake on the extreme hull? i have about 15 hrs on boat and motor, and have babied my boat. Some how I still end up with dents in the front rake. I haven't powered over any stumps, and haven't hit any stumps at any speed. Is it just me or is the poor bracing in the front end the problem? My tracker grizzly held up better than this, and also ran a .80 gauge xpress maybe 7 years ago, and it has been abused alot more than this and its in better condition. I buy a boat maybe every 3 years, and it won't be gator tail again. Sorry to rant, but figured someone could give me some insight.

Been running heavy water? I think I noticed some new dents in the rake on our legendcraft after a rough ride this weekend...

Nah no heavy water, pretty much back water. I have my grizzly in some rough rought stuff, and never a dent. I don't know, I am confused.

How is it braced in the rake? Take some pictures.

They used some kinda flat bar for the rake. Its maybe 1/2 to 1 inch thick and maybe 2 or 3 inches wide. I will get pics and better measurements. They didn't even put the bracing as close together as in the bottom. I guess they figured it prolly won't hurt performance so it doesn't matter. I am very picky and when I spend 19k from someone I expect quality. I asked him about side bracing and front rake and he said they will
hold up. My buddies has a pro drive and flat out beats the hell out of it. He has a few minor dents. Another runs the same places and speeds I do and he doesn't have any.

 Yore problem is in yore sign-in area of yore screen name ...... Mineola, Texas !!!!

The rest of the world don't really know yore type of waters you be runnin' in !!!!!

Yore rite ..... thay gots it braced with flat iorn in the rake ..... I wurshed thay would do somethin' different there .... but thats how it's built. What I have learned ..... bein' a East-Texan mineself is to be shore when you are doin' yore idelin' 'round ... don't let yore buddies sit in the front with all thay's wieght on yore bow when you hit that stobb that's 'bout 4 inches above the water line !!

You mention them other hulls that have not got the rake-dent yet ...... keyword ...... YET !!!!

Sounds like something could be up with your particular hull, I wouldn't go throwing the bullets around yet.

I can already see Giga all over this one.

I live in NE TX. go to pines all the time and caddo. I've beat the crap out of my boat. Nobody warranties stumps the only advice I can give you is hammer the crap out of it. when your boat is on plane and trimmed out it should sit high enough to miss most of the stumps you might get scratches maybe a gouge but if you get perched on a stump its like a corkscrew. Maybe I'm stupid but it works for me!

mine has a few also, I think it may be from trailering if you travel rough roads being the front end is tight. I think it flexes some witch causes this, may be crazy but it sounds logical they say trailering is the worst stress on a boat

i have a GT extreme and yes i have a few dents in my rake but it doesnt hurt the performance and if i was worried about some dents in the bottom of my MUD BOAT then i shouldnt own one and buy a bass boat. mud boats are made to go places other boats arent and a bunch of us do things with them that would make the builders chit a brick. but maybe thats just me. i say if your worried about scratching it then leave it in the shed. dont knock gator tail because of it

i agree that you have to expect to see some dings here and there. we put these boats through hell! i would be pretty bummed though if my 19k rig had a bunch of dents in the front of it after 15 hours of use. i'm sure GT will address this issue for future models. good luck

like brooks said and couple others have said the only flaw in a a GT boat for our terrain is the rake

someone said it doesnt hurt performance - yea you are right but then someone else said if I spent 19k on a rig I wouldnt want dents in the front of it because of lack of bracing after 15 hours either and they are right too

Im not saying yall dont have stumps or have to jump stuff to get to the ducks in south la but come to our part of the world or just about any other part of the world and see the terrain we run and you will understand why we want better bracing and thicker hulls

For the record caddo lake is nothing compared to the rest of the lakes in this part of the country espcially right now with the water so low everywhere
