Been doing some research and I've narrowed it down to the GT and GD surface drives. I see alot of mixed reviews on these. From what I can tell, the area you run has alot to do with it. So, if anyone that has the GT or GD and runs the Trinity has any insite, It would be helpful. Thanks |

First of all, where exactly will you be running the most ? Bay ? I personally run a GDSD ,and I run the Trinity bay area alot,as that is where I hunt and fish , with the ocasional north of I-10, just depending on where I find the ducks. It does have its up and downs also. Such as prop wear caused by the sand. If you spend alot of time in the bay,as I do, get ready for atleast 2 props a season atleast,as I do not baby my rig. whatsoever. I have buddys who run jet drives, and I personally have rode in them and even borrowed a couple of them before, and they out perform my GD rig hands down in the bay, and we also use them in the flooded timber along with my GDSD,but when it comes to mud flats, they cant go where I go. So the question you need to ask yourself is, do you really want a SD ? or are you just caught up in all the talk about how nice the SD are ? Not trying to detour you what soever, as I run all over the bay with my SD , without any problems other than prop wear. But my honest opinion would be that as far as running the bay mostly, the jet drive is the way to go. Not trying to stir up any shiat fellas,as I think they are all great engines,I am just trying to give the man my opinion. |

I run a GT out there several days of the week. The comment about the props is dead on. Im on my fourth this year but i have been on the bay front most of the time (all sand). But i have only been stuck once and the water wasnt over the top of my feet. Its amazing how shallow it will run if i trim it way up. I dont think im exaggarating if i say 3-4" of water over sand as long as im on step. And thats with 2 guys, dog, 7 dozen weighted keel decoys, and gear. And it can handle anything else there is in wallisville. |

Seriously --- I have run Trinity Bay and river all my life, cause I was born here over 50 years ago.... For huntin / fishin / cabin runnin.... The THREE best rigs --- I have owned are: 1. My current GDSD rig 2. An 1860 G3 tunnel w/pods w/90 Yamaha on 8" hydrolic jack 3. An 2272 "super jon" w/140 jetrude on back and 8 hp GDLT on bow Listed in MY order of preference --- each had specific assets / drawbacks but the BIG factor for me was that all of them would get me to a spot --- the GDSD gets me back from that spot the most reliably and with the least physical effort on me and my passengers --- IE pushin and pullin the boat |

I run a 1852 GT Extreme hull with a modded GTR in that area for hunting and fishing and I would not run anything else. I do not burn up props because I keep mine trimmed up high when running sand flats. As far as 10 gd's to 1 gtr it's like seeing 10 vettes to 1 viper. |
