 23GTR ANY INPUT
I am getting ready to purchase a 23GTR and i was wanting to know how long of a boat to go with. I am interested in the 18'x40 gator tail boat but i was thinkin go heavy. Maybe a custom boat 17'x42". I realy like what i am reading about uncle J boats. I know every one says test drive, but does any one have this similar set up?

 Re: 23GTR ANY INPUT
The 18' 40" is the ideal boat for that 23, it is a performer. YOu can't go wrong whether it be the 18 40 from GT or a custom hull but i would stay around those deminsions

 Re: 23GTR ANY INPUT
What kind of conditions do you hunt in, and are you going to be carrying a big load? Things to consider, if you're going to be hauling 3 fatasses like me around or crossing some big water, you may want to bump up the size. Good choice on the GTR though, you'll love it.

 Re: 23GTR ANY INPUT
What every you choose, go long and narrow for the 23 motor. It will do the job on the right boat. I would stay with a lighter then .125 hull if you think you can run a .100 without tearing it up in TX, the performance will be significantly better with that motor on a light hull IMHO.

 Re: 23GTR ANY INPUT
Im runing a 15 40 with .125 all the way around, right now and as long as i hunt with somebody else or have a full tank and 3 dozen decoys up front it runs fine and perfect for a two man set up. I kinda wish i just had the longer boat so it wouldnt porpoise as much but other than that love it. but def go with at least 17'. 40" is a little wobbly so get use to that if you dont want it that skinny get a 44 notin much wider. its nice to be skinny with the 23.

 Re: 23GTR ANY INPUT
If you get ready to purchase a 23hp gtr and wanna save a little money over buying a new motor I have a 23gtr with only 60-65 hours on it that I'm willing to sell just because I dont really need a mud motor anymore. PM if your interested it's a great motor and never has had any issues so maybe we can work something out.
