Set up for a big guy
Im in the market for a boat and mud motor (im new to this). I was wondering what would I need to look for to have a good set up Im 6'4 360. I know I would have to watch the amount of gear and passengers, what size boat and motor should I look for.
Thanks alot

Whats your budget? That is probably a more important question. I run a 1436 rivited boat with a 16hp GDLT and I'm 6'6" and 375ish and I love my little rig. just depends on how much you can afford to spend on a setup..

Re: Set up for a big guy
Im a rather stout fellow myself --- I run a 1854 PD boat with a 36 on it and I run 25 all day long. I run 20-21 with me and a heavy load. This is on a stock motor with a muffler
Any of the surface drives with a 35/36 on them would do fine -- I like the wider boat for stability. I just feel more comfortable in it.

I am 6'2 about 380... my 19x46 does real good...
with just me and a icechest with 20 gallons of fuel I can run 26-27...
I have got it up to 29 in shallow water..
with a camp load I run about 20mph

I would suggest going to drive all of the big 4 before you pull the trigger

Re: Set up for a big guy
depending on where you want to run would be the choice b/t the pd and gtr...
the marsh that I hunt is nasty and I have been in a few situations where a gtr would have had much more trouble getting out of the stuck.
the fpr really helps in nasty much and vegitation
GTR do run a little faster than a PD though

Re: Set up for a big guy
For ten to twelve grand you oughta be able to find a damn nice rig. Like the other guys said, try to run a few before you buy. The more the better.

If you do live local or in close driving distance I will be more than happy to take you in mine. I have a 1854 Sportsman Fabrication Hull with PD 36. Just shoot me a PM.
