Is it a balanced frame? Surface piercing or subsurface prop? Is it just a surface drive with a short belt housing and long output shaft? |

I did some digging, and came up with what I believe to be the preliminary drawings of this super duper longtail. Earl, it looks like they stole your design, which is typical with the man we are dealing with here. |

We will keep an eye on it, they may have also borrowed ideas from the one we call coondik. We'll see what comes to fruition. |

Post subject: | Re: Arkmos Super Longtails |
here is what I read about them from the UtahMudmotor.com website.. (http://utahmudmotor.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2098) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Backwater Performance Systems also known as BPS has been acquired by ARKMOS Engineering, a Salt Lake City company. Arkmos Engineering specializes in developing products for other companies, in particular metal and plastic castings. Arkmos will take over product development and distribution for the popular BPS brand of performance components used for mud motors, dune buggies, mini airboats and mower racers. I have purchased part ownership in the company and will head up the performance engine product division. Mud Buddy has been given the BPS mud motor line of products to sell to its dealers this season, but it is expected that Arkmos will enter the national market by mid 2011 with an expanded line of performance and accessory related products to include a new line of mud motors. New Belt Drive Longtails - In addition to engine components, Arkmos will be releasing a new line of mud motors this summer to include the new belt gear reduction drive longtail with electric clutch neutral. The new longtail will be offered in six models, 6, 12, 23, 27, 35 and BPS 45 Mag. The new mud motor will have similar top end speeds and hole shots as the short tail mud motors, but will be offered at a price point longtail customers expect. Mud Buddy will carry all the models this summer. We expect to have the 35 and 45 Mag as early as mid spring. For now, dealers will purchase the Arkmos Super Longtails from Mud Buddy, but will be able to buy direct later this year. Mud Buddy will continue to build and offer its short tail belt drives and parts, however the writing is on the wall and we will be retiring our traditional longtail line of motors the next few months, leaving Arkmos the responsibility of designing and manufacturing the Arkmos Super Longtails and other performance and boat accessory products. These changes will be good for Mud Buddy and its customers as we expect to see even more products in the future. I am very pleased." I'll give it a year or two to see how they perform before making a judgement about them. but they do sound cool.. |
