mine is being rebuilt now for the first time.....i have approximately 99 hours on my motor...i dont think thats too bad considering the hell i put my boat through and considering when it was pulled off it had "burnt motor" written in paint marker on the trim unit itself. i DK why it had that written on it but im sure it had something to do with the life of it. |

I have owned my Robalo as long as my Gator-Tail the service on both has totally favored the Gator-Tail... Robalo repairs - Ruptured fuel line, kink in fuel line, low pressure fuel pump, high pressure fuel pump, fuel injectors, hydraulic steering failure (Seals), fuel pickup issue, fuel sending unit issues, jack plate hydraulic issue, trim relays The Gator-Tail has held up better than a 22' Robalo w/ a 250 HP on it... Just saying... BOAT = Break Out Another Thousand just accept it and you'll be happier ![]() |

changed mine out only after it started leaking,I have it as a spare. I called during hunting season and had a new one at my door the next day. That's alot easier than driving there for me.It had several hundred hours on it. The new one has about close to a hundred on it. |

Guess i better just buy a spare to have laying around. I should be getting mine back this week sometime maybe it will last longer. |

Mine leaked at 10-15 hours. Faulty unit not GT's fault. Still under warranty and GT replaced it as I waited. 2 hr drive for me but GT has great customer service in case y'all didn't know. |

I'm not gonna call mine broke, but maybe you all can help with this- At 27 hours, when I trim all the way down until it bottoms out, a small amount of fluid will ooze from the seam on the cylinder housing on the port side of the boat. I know, call GT and talk to them, just checking to see if ya'll ever see this. |

Seems as thought this is the Achilles heel of the GT. Are the muddy buddies any better? Don't they use mercury marine trim units? |

I had a unit with the Aluminum cylinder that leaked from the rod seal area due to the aluminum rod galling up and tearing the seal. Swapped the rod and its all good. You guys have to sit back and think how much abuse these units take. That cylinder is responsible for trimming at your desired angle and holding the motr at that position. Yes all the bouncing and jolting is going through this cylinder and taking its toll. To speak on how strong the unit is, I know I can get on hard ground and trim down and Guess what I can lift the back of the boat up haha. Yes I know some of you had issues with the units, BUT if you are crying over a lil oil seepage past the seal you need to just quit worrying about that because your case gasket will leak more oil than that little weepage fromt he trim unit. |

What you mean Went out? Totally out of service or just a leak? Yes there were issues. Older models have relays to control up and down on the trim, Most problems is the Relay itsel when they get wet in the battery box. |

Post subject: | Re: GTR Trim |
Only trim issue I've had with the new trim is a seal needed to be replaced at a 150 hrs. When you consider all the mud, sand, and grit that gets on that seal; 150 hrs is good for me. |
