It seems as though no matter if i just start it up on a cold morning or at the launch after a good long run, my prop always spins when the motor is running and in neutral, i would have to say that at idle it spins about half the speed it would spin if it were in gear. it is enough to slowly put put my boat around when bowfishing. does everyone else have this problem or is there something i can adjust to fix it?

It will spin... Spinning is normal. I notice each time I put new grease in the lower unit axle tube that it will slow the spin of the prop... I usually change my axle tub grease every 15 hours quick & easy and keeps everything nice lubricated. When was the last time you changed your output shaft grease?

First of all if your seals are good you wont lose any grease. Keeping the LU greased is good practice, But the MAIN reason the prop spins in neutral is a form of "fluid coupling" that happens in the transmission. Most of the time is from having a little too much oil in it. The crankshaft spins the planets on the tranny and the lubricating fluid carries the outer Shell/ring gear around the planets that is bolted to the upper sprocket. This is what causes the prop to spin in neutral.

And all this time yall argue with Go-Devil owners about needing neutral, when you don't even have it yourself? lol

Also sometimes on my old PD, the prop would spin vry very slowly in neutral, but not on the new one.

I knew that one - but figured if I posted that it only
happens on the GTR and not the GT it would just start
a bunch of chit....

Glad he found out it is normal and that he is behind
on his maintenance too....

Even the GDSD wants a pump or two from the grease gun
every other month or so --- LOL
