Post subject: | Info on performance please. |
Well lets start with stating i just bought my first MM rig. Its a 1750 Gatortrax with huntdeck and a MB 45mag. My main question is about performance of the motor. When im running with myself (220) and my son (45 soaking wet) i was only getting about 27mph at about 4100rpms. Does this sound about where i should be. Was told that prop was pretty new, and it looks it. With three guys 220 180 210 and typical boat stuff i was running a consistent 24mph. Keep in mind this is my first rig and just asking for opinions, not wanting to get into a debate on GT, PD, and MB. Any info would be appreciated. Other than that i will state that the boat is very stable and turns well. Seems to be a well built rig, the whole package just came back from gatortrax and they put new stock heads and had the whole outdrive redone with seals and bearings. Thanks again for any info. |

you should be turning more RPM's if you were running WOT with a 45 mag and a light load. Check your throttle linkage and make sure your cable hasn't slipped some. There is a diagram on here somehwere that shows this if your unsure what I am talking about. You should be seeing speeds of about 32mph with a light load and 28-29mph with a heavy load. also, make sure your prop is running at the right height out of the water. To low and you wont get your capable top speed, to high and you will max your rpm's but wont get full thrust of the motor. it should run about half out of the water. seeing your rpm's it sounds like your throttle cabble slipped. |

you should be turning more RPM's if you were running WOT with a 45 mag and a light load. What does WOT stand for. I will check the cable if I can find the post. Just measured the prop and it measured out to 12.25 so it is good. |

RPM at WOT is 4450-4470. |

Sounds good to me....Not sure what a 45mag is!!!!! If your RPM's in the water under a load was higher. Then I would say you need a new prop. |

45 mag is a Mudbuddy 45, got roller rockers cam, pistons, connecting rods, and push rods, and dual exhaust from the factory. Modded stock carb too. Its my first rig so thats why i might sound a lil uneducated about the whole ordel. |

I have the exact same rig you have and my speeds and rpms are exactly the same as what your getting. But I would think it should be a little faster but I'm new too. |

Well, the WOT rpm's on the trailer, or not under a load, should be close to 4500-4600, and with the light load you spoke of, you should still be able to run up close to that (4300 would be reasonable). You're not gonna be runnin 32-33 with that rig, but should be able to run 29-30 light & hold steady 25-26 with a big load. Remember, that boat is a tank. It's super tough, but it's also heavy. |

check your throttle cable...then go from there. may need to adjust your carb as well. either way...look at the rpm's team camo posted. run it on the trailer and you should hit around 4500-4600rpm. I run the exact same boat with floatation and I run about 27-28 light load....23-24 heavy load. Thats with a stock 35GTR. something isn't right...you should be getting better speed with that motor. |

Just check throttle cable slippage, did not look like i did but after i reset it i hit 4500rpms and sounded like it was bumping rev limiter so i guess from that all is well. IDK just seemed like it should have performed a lil better with light load. |

Prop - you can't just go by diameter - it is also about blade width and condition of the cup on the trailing edge.... You will need a prop sooner or later - just buy one ! Also on MB you may want to consider a gear ratio change ole Deadbird8 has posted up some good threads about such.... You just need to change the bottom pulley from a 48 to a 50 or 52... viewtopic.php?f=3&t=16919&p=186663#p186663 The 45 comes with a pretty aggressive (lo @ 1.2) ratio and you might run better with a taller 1.4 ratio.... I have seen that same hull run faster than you posted with a stock GDSD which has the 1.4 ratio... |

You should be reaching better speeds than that.. |

Those rpm's sound about right for running a stock carb. |
