Anyone know where I can get some of those rib nuts that prodrive puts in there cross bracing for the seat to bolt in? Also, what is the correct name for them?

thanks, another retarded question, but about what size do they use? Now that I have found them I have also found out that there is a huge selection of them to pick from.

Shank length plays into the mix also.. You need to know how think the material is that your putting them in.. The PD riv-nuts are either 1/4x20 or 5/16x18 if I remember right..

You can find the "kits" on ebay. Contains the tool and several sizes of the fasteners.

Guy at the fastener store here in Tyler showed me how to set them without a tool. It can be done but the tool makes it a whole lot easier.

When I bought my Quickset blind it came with some rivnuts and a "tool" to set them. The tool was a 1/4 20 bolt and a nut. Thread the nut on the bolt, then the rivnut.

All the PD boats I had, were 3/8x16 riv nuts.
Cardinal tool has a fairly cheap tool for installing them, mine cost $65 a couple years ago. You can get the riv-nuts at

Tool: (bottom one!)

Bought plain stainless allen head bolts and the black "wing-nut" caps that snap over the bolts at the local true value hardware.

I got a kit at Home Depot. It would not install the 3/8 Riv nuts but had 3 smaller attachments. $19 if I remember right.
