I am looking to get an 1854 (at this point it could be Aucoin, GT, or Brother) but in any case 1854 pointed bow bateau with the intent of adding a 35GTR. The idea of paying 1500+ for a flimsy arse boat trailer chaps my arse- so I am trying to find a used one.

I dont want a trailer any wider than need be and definitely dont want to be too small. I guess my confusion is that I dont know how much beam any of these boats will have. The minimum width between wheel well is obvious if I want to keep the boat low.

I am thinking the "perfect" trailer fit will put the outside of the tires right under the gunnels. So what is this measurement approximately?

Just a thought, get one built. When i got my skiff from Brother, i got him to build me a trailer. Not much more money than what you can buy one from PD or Gator tail and built a lot better. I got a 5000 lb axle encased in pipe with all bull dog accessories, bearing buddies, 15 in wheels and LED lights. You can see it under your other thread lookin for boat pics. It fits the boat perfect and pulls like a dream.

If you are wanting to buy used and fix up, holla at Crews, he is the king of nickleing a trailer!!
