How would a guy go about doing a scale pattern on his bare hull like this boat... already have tried a wire wheel on a drill bigger coarser wire cup wheel on a Gringer and Larger Sander/buffer.. 120 - 180 - 220 grit on the Sander/Buffer... tried it on all diffrent speeds and I can't keep good control of the tool... any ideas are welcome... I do not want to paint my new hull... |

Maybe he likes things that are hard to keep clean. Unless, he clear coats it, of course. |

Do ya mark a grid to keep the pattern straight? Or are they just that good? |

Seen them do it on a smaller version on a gun show one time. They used cutting cream or cutting powder and used a drill press with a wire brush bit, marked lines and grid. took them about 2 hours total to do about 1x1 area. looks good finished every other swirl was done the opposite direction. |

Never done alum. but we do it on stainless all the time with a sandin pad on a grinder. And just get every kind of grit they have and some scrap alum. and practice. |

about 3 hours to do both sides the transome I just swirled since I was sick and tired of doing it and the pods kind of made it a pain in the azz.. we fished it in heavy flooded timber and scraped the chit out of it this weekend and it held up great... pretty much what I was looking for since paint for Vinyl would have looked like chit after one trip in the timber we fished in... now I need to web paint the inside and I should be set... |
