I got a gutted out 1440 with a 89 20hp mercury that has a 2 blade prop that will flat out eat up some grass and lillys. I need to put a bigger hose on the pisser but will plow through some mud.

Re: more info on the outboard mod. mm
I had the same 40 merc with 60 carbs and exhaust ported and it didnt sound like that. that motor had some mods to it big time. it got up on the rev limiter fast. and sounded like it was running alot more rpm's than normal. but in certain situations with just two guiys i could do the same thing with a new well cupped prop. but put a hunt load in that boat and it aint going no where. that why i went to the GTR.

We have been running 25hp and 40hp Mercs and Mariners for years on Ultra-Jacks. I was the second person in Florida to purchase an Ultra-Jack (my buddy was the first). After 18 or so years I'm ready to get a real surface drive... real soon.

What does the ultra jack do for the motor?

Re: more info on the outboard mod. mm
The ultra-jack is simply a jack plate with a skeg that pushes veggies down so the prop only has to spin water. The 40 merc on an Ultra Jack went a great distance through this soup, but lost momentum and water about 60 yards short of open water. This was actually firm enough one of the guys (with snow shoes for feet) was able to walk on top of the slop to the "rescue boat".
