"I've been looking around for a light easy to carry mud motor" How far you gonna carry the boat too ? OK - assuming your serious - the lil briggs 5 hp outboard is a pretty good lil motor that does about as good as a small longtail it is aircooled - light and reliable - has neutral and reverse and goes almost anywhere our 8 hp longtail goes - available for about $650 at Academy or Gander Mountain we use one on a lil 12 foot - works as a totable rig and is way easier to haul in the main boat and tote by hand than a longtail |

look around at what you like best and consider location for service. but remember i bet you could winch a 20' w/ a 35 quicker than you could carry or pull any size boat/motor. i personally dont like the design mounting to the motor as opposed to motor mounted on frame. also, i dont like how it dosent have u joints meaning your crank absorbs all prop hits. all major mm co's use u's im sure there was plenty thought involved. |

Bill has been around quite a while and the stump-jumpers are actually somewhat common up here with Go-Devil being the most recognized. It's a small business and really doesn't do much volume, but everyone I know with one has been happy with the product. I just looked at his new website and previously he did have the bigger motors mounted similar to a GD. |

If you are still wondering about the stump jumpers I have one with a 7hp Robin Subaru on a 12&1\2 ft stiff with a high rake and it does wonder I run it in the swamps in Louisiana, in open rivers, in marshes, and Sandy creeks with as much as much as 450 lbs in the boat. I'm very hard on my boat and motor and they are both still doing awesome |
