 Problem with truck
I noticed yesterday my oil pressure was higher than usual, since then everytime I crank my truck the oil pressure increases and is now past the last number (80). Y'all think this would be the sender goin out or the excess pressure valve stuck? I'm leaning more towards the sender because the guage shows the pressure being high before even cranking the truck. Just wanted a few extra opinions. Thanks, Jake

 Problem with truck
It's a Chevy (avalanche). By dash do you mean something with the guage itself or the sender?

 Re: Problem with truck
First off Oil Pressure is the resistance to flow. THe colder it is the Harder it is to flow. Now that you know this Lets get on topic of your Chevy Avalanche. It is probably a bad sending unit or bad cluster. What year?

 Re: Problem with truck
Check the cluster. GM's are famous for bad clusters. i have a 04' dmax and 06 Z and both had bad clusters.

 Problem with truck
It's an 04 avalanche, and the pressure is showin all the way topped out and it's runnin fine so I'm guessin it's te sendin unit.

 Re: Problem with truck
Mine just went out in my 07 Tahoe... It actually shut the engine down every 150 miles to low RPM. It was sending codes & freaking out... I ended up taking it to the dealer & said F it lol

 Re: Problem with truck
had this happen to my 06 chevy truck, running down the interstate BAM pinged out oil pressure, talk about shit a brick. got off work picked up a new oil pressure sending unit (back of block) replaced and hour later back up and running at normal range.
