 Winch Question
Brother built me a winch mount on my new boat. The base just sits down in the counter-sunk hole and rotates 360. There is no pin and it doesn't appear that there is any way to add one.
The problem is that when I try to use the winch, the winch motor wants to swing in towards the inside of the boat. This causes the cable to rub on the outside of the winch housing.
It's kind of hard to explain, but basically I need to be able to anchor the winch in a fixed postion without it swinging around.
Any suggestions????

 Re: Winch Question
mine's built into my front cap under my catwalks.... just went look at ur pictures and saw how urs is built into ur front deck. U can't access it by opening dat hatch and gettin up in der with a drill to pop a hole to allow a pin? It would be a PIA to have to get under there to pin it when u needed it... but from what I see dat's ur only option.
Mine does da same thing. Da few times I used my winch I just let it pull and do what it had to do and then I re-spooled my line afterwards..... but I'm also usin syn. winch rope and an aluminum fairlead, just never used da winch enough to worry about keepin da winch straight. It always served it purpose though.

 Re: Winch Question
Can u modify ur winch bracket to offset da winch making the pull point center with da receiver? Dat would keep da winch from tryin to twist on u... after thinkin about it some more I remember dat's where I screwed up on my design. Da mounting holes for da winch are dead center of da whole assembly, which places da cable drum off to da side if u bolt it centered on ur 2" receiver.... so if allowed to swivel it torques up & tries to twist on ya. If it were mounted with da cable drum directly over da 2" receiver it'll prolly pull straight....

 Re: Winch Question
I looked under the deck and there ain't no puttin a pin in there......
Being a 2054, I imagine when I stick it, it's gonna be stuck real good, so I just wanna make sure I can get out of a jam if necessary.
I'll check and see if it can be mounted offset with the bracket and go from there.....

 Re: Winch Question
well ur stuck with da receiver da way it is without major reconstruction... u can always build another bracket to mount da winch on to offset it & make it pull straight. Dat's seems to be ur only option without messin up ur paint job.
