I am wanting to get a mm for my 1648 alumacraft its got a . 107 hull thickness with the a slanted transom. I run mainly stumpy water is why im wanting one. How do you guys think a 36hp pd would perform on it. Would it tear that boat up?

I have a 1648 alumacraft MV riveted, and have a 27 PD on it. I wouldn't worry about adding a 36 to it even.

Thats kinda what I was wondering, how thick is the hull on your 1648. how well does the 27 push it?

I had a 1650 Polar Kraft with a 32PD.It ran fair for what it was.But the boat will not take the abuse and weight of the MM..You will need to make the transom stronger and stay away form stumps. Will it work...Yes but it will not perform like a true mud boat hull. The 32pd pushed my boat 27mph with one person. It would not get on step at all with more than 3 people.Go as big as you can afford.I would save your change and buy a 36hp.There are also some good boats for sale in the classifieds.

My hull is .070. I can run around 21mph with 2 guys 200lbs each in shallow water. As for the abuse...I wouldn't purposely hit a log with it but have jumped many beaver dams and ran up on sand and mud flatts with no problems or wear. Obviously a MM manufacturer's boat would be best but I'd rather spend less and have a boat to hunt of rather than abuse....then again, thats just me.

My biggest problem with getting a bigger boat is that I hunt flooded timber and I am wanting a mm for that unexpeded log like I hit last year and lost my cowling. Its a pretty hard jolt when you hit a log that wasn't there the morning before going 30 mph. I dont' really run very much shallow water unless we having gotten much rain. Thanks for all the information. Theres a lot to consider with spending that much dough.
