I have a Triton 1756 with a 50 Mercury tiller drive, and wont to run a mud motor. Has anyone seen a Triton with one or know how well a mud motor would perform with this boat. |

Best best advice I can give you so that you won't be dissipointed is to sell your present rig and get a boat designed for a mudmotor. |

there is a guy that hunts on the lease next to ours, but passes through our pipeline to get to his lease, and i always see him running. he has a go devil sd with a 16ft g3 hull, its a mod v. and he says he loves it. it will do the job, but the bracing in the bottom of the boat are ran from one side of the boat to the other, and a boat made for a mm are ran from front to back. the difference is the cross braces will begin to have a washboard affect which will start slowing u down even more. the boats arent built as heavy duty, are made of 100 guage rather than 125, which is 1/8" thick and are built to withstand the abuse that a mm will come across. from the research i have done, i came to the conclusion that although the mod v mass produced hulls would better suit my needs because im always in a good bit of chop, but off the back you are losing speed. and they arent gonna last as long. and when running through some real bad stuff the hull isnt gonna perform as well as a flat bottom boat with no runners. the transom angles are also different. it is doable. but i chose to buy one boat, that will last me a life time. and although i wont keep her for life, ill be able to sell it in a few years and put that towards a new one, instead of just replacing one. hope this helped a lil bit. |

Thanks for the advice. My boat is for sale so I guess I will go with that plan sell it and get another one. What kind of mud motors are yall running and what is the lowest maintenance motor. I have never owned a mud motor so any advice will help me. I have rode on a boat with one but I dont have much experience with them. |

Go demo as much as you can and get as much HP as you can afford. They are all basically the same engine. |

the only difference between them is nuetral and reverse. Other than that its a lawn mower engine |
